National Training Award

CastAlum won a National Training Award for medium employers 2010. The awards were held at the National Cricket Centre in Cardiff. The award was accepted by Hannah Barrett, HR Manager, and Rachel Jerman, Finance Manager. CastAlum Ltd was given the prestigious award based on the development of its training programme, called ‘Rising to the Challenge – Building the Capability’, created in partnership with Holistics Services.

The training consisted of four modules with 10 areas of learning covering topics such as communication and teamwork, continuous improvement, the working environment, achieving targets and goals, and customer satisfaction. Managers received additional training and support to up-skill them to lead, coach and facilitate their team members.

The modules were designed to develop critical reasoning and problem-solving skills and were delivered in a practical and enjoyable way through role-playing and positive participation. Ten people were trained at a time and senior managers participated with the shop floor workforce, breaking down the traditional barriers.
