CastAlum is an internationally acclaimed aluminium diecaster, located in Mid Wales. The site was a Greenfield development in the winter of 2000-2001, serving one customer only.
Less than 10 years on, the company supplies parts to the UK, Germany, Poland, Canada and Mexico and recently won it’s first order from a truck manufacturer in the Far-East. 70% of all production is for export, with our components going into vehicles produced by Jaguar, Aston Martin, BMW, Ford, General Motors, Fiat, Renault, Porsche and Mercedes.
Over the past 2 years the Company has invested heavily in the development of new products. Through our own investigation and expertise we have been able to bring a number of process solutions to bear in meeting world class quality standards.
Today, one in ten vehicles produced in Europe has a steering gear housing manufactured by CastAlum in Welshpool.
Castalum last evening won the Powys Awards prize for Business Growth. The judging panel commended the Company on making substantial capital investments at a time when global business confidence had evaporated - allowing the successful development of a business plan for growth
Castalum continues to develop it's machining facilities with a further Heller H2000 machining centre installed along with expanded conveyor systems and a new casting recognition system. This latter allows multi type steering rack components to be diverted to appropriate machining centres.
Castalum has recently been reaccredited the Investors in People award. Staff development is vital to Castalum as we continue to strive towards being the ' supplier of choice'.
